For Teachers

Challenge

Could you ever imagine standing at the front of a classroom and having every child staring at you with wide eyed curiosity and interest? How about teaching a subject that wasn't mandated by the school? How would it feel to teach a class where you choose the topic and children would sign up for your class because they wanted to be there? If this sounds like an ideal situation, we would like to talk with you about teaching for The Super Saturday Program.

Qualifications

Teachers typically hold higher level degrees and/or are experts in their field. They also have a passion for a particular subject or area and delight in teaching gifted learners. Teachers in The Super Saturday Program have said that teaching our children has been their most rewarding teaching experience because of the eagerness that awaits them every Saturday.

Options

Teachers may run a class in our Fall, Winter and/or Spring sessions (see Important Dates), during the morning, afternoon, or both class periods. For each session there are 12 hours of class. Teachers are contractors of PAGE and are paid for 15 hours as they must be on campus before and after class for set-up and clean-up, and for parents to drop off and pick up their children.

Opportunity

Every session our Teacher Coordinators look for new and seasoned teachers to offer exciting classes for our children. The lead time is great due to all the individual tasks that must be performed prior to each session. Therefore, teacher recruitment typically starts approximately 5 months prior to each session. Teachers work with our Teacher Coordinators to provide a class title, description, student grades to be taught and teacher bio for listing on our website Class Listings and in our printed Class Offerings Brochure. Student registrations determine which classes run as we must have enough paying students in each class to cover teacher's pay.

Lab Fees

Most of our teachers purchase and provide consumable supplies for their classes. Each teacher is responsible for determining how much these supplies will cost per student. This information is provided on our website Class Listings and our Class Offerings Brochure as the teacher's lab fee. These lab fees are paid by the parents directly to the teacher on the first day of class.

Location

All classes are held on the campus of the University of Cincinnati, College of Applied Science, 2220 Victory Parkway, Cincinnati. See Directions for additional information.
